Unholy Heroes

Unruly Heroes is a new 2D action adventure game developed by ‘Magic Design Studios‘. It’s coming out later this quarter of the year on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC. This game has quite the story to tell. Let’s take a look.

Let’s start from the very beginning. Unruly Heroes was inspired by a famous Chinese legend which we are sure many have heard of. It’s called ‘A journey to the West’. The Monkey king legend. So straight away there are some expectations in terms of the story, it’s depth, music and messages for the gamers. Already we at X35 Earthwalker are interested.

The developers claim that Unruly Heroes will be an epic adventure and that it will be an unforgettable experience. We can see this being true. The concept behind the game and inspiration should make that easier to accomplish. There are four characters and straight away the creativity is shown. there is a human who seems to be spiritual based and is surrounded by light, maybe to symbolise a moral or holy nature. The next is a fat pig (KiHong) who appears to laugh a lot, suggesting that he’s the most laid back and relaxed one. The next is a large blue monster but humanoid, having knowledge and uses martial arts. The last is a monkey (WuKong) who has a staff and looks a bit too cool to be a regular staff wielding monkey.

Unruly Heroes

Not much information is given concerning game but we have checked out some gameplay and it reminds us of ‘Rayman Origins‘. The gameplay looks awesome. Dash, run, jump, and off course lots of combat. Their are bosses to defeat and each of the four characters have different fighting styles. KiHong is very agile and relies a lot on strength tactics as well. The monkey is heavily reliant on his weapon which can change size and he can even turn into a bird. The large blue monster is martial arts hand to hand combat heavy with mighty strikes. The human who acts too graceful has  mystical powers and uses light to strike enemies whether in balls of light or worse. So yep it’s quite clear who our favourite character is already.

From what we have already seen Unruly heroes looks awesome. KiHong has some awesome looking aerial moves and serious combos. There is a giant monster who looks like it’s going to become a problem. This game off course supports four player co-op which sounds awesome by the way. There is also a PvP mode which sounds even cooler. Hopefully none of the characters are OP. The bosses seem to have their own characteristics and styles which we certainly appreciate. The graphics and style are excellent indeed. Hand drawn art work and it looks amazing so far. Maybe if we saw more it might make our top 5 list.

Overall Unruly Heroes looks awesome. The concept is there, the graphics are amazing and the music is what we wanted. When you hear it, you think of Chinese legends which is what it should have. The developers ‘Magic Games Studios’ did an awesome job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker are looking forward to Unruly Heroes and what this game has to offer. Now the Unruly Heroes may been skilled fighters but even them combined aren’t a match for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Slime-san

Slime-san is an action adventure game developed by ‘Fabraz‘. It’s already out on PC and Nintendo Switch but coming out in March on the Xbox One and PS4. This game has been compared toSuper meat boy. Let’s take a look.

In the world of Slime-san players control a little slime called… Slime-san, who was just enjoying himself, minding his own business but gets swallowed by a giant worm. Now it isn’t safe in there because the worm’s stomach acid will digest the player so the aim is to escape by sliming your way through the worms body and back out through the point of entry… the mouth. Sounds not serious, fun and simple which is good for games like this.

So the main challenge of this game is to move fast. This is because the wall of stomach acid is constantly chasing you. So all that hopping, jumping, and sliming around need sot be done with precision, timing and little mistakes to survive and progress through the worm. Now Slime-san isn’t some simple, he has some tricks. Fr example he can break through certain weaker obstacles with a dash move. Since he’s a slime he can go through cracks and certain surfaces too.

Slime-san

The worm has swallowed quite a number of things. There is a town filled with survivors. They are described as colourful characters. In the town is where players can do their shopping for things that will help Slime-san out. We have many questions regarding this town. Like what part of the worm is this town located? Like with other towns in games this one has secrets. So be the kind of player who likes to explore.

Now Slime-san is loaded. For starters their are 100 levels! The new game plus mode brings in an additional 100 more level. So 200 levels in total! There are secrets, collectibles and stuff to unlock. There are partially digested apples for players to collect to unlock mini game, shades and outfits. You can even unlock competitive multiplayer arcade games which his really cool when you think about it. There are three game modes to unlock: Speed running, New game+ and Boss rush mode. The names are self explanatory.

We checked out some gameplay and we can say this game looks cool. There is quite a number of mechanics in this game. Walls that you can pass or become solid platform, bouncing on the walls, moving platforms, avoiding the red surfaces, items that grant abilities or new actions. There is a lot going on here. Definitely can see why some compare this to Super meat boy. It’s fast and will be difficult to many gamers.

Overall Slime-san seems like a really good game. The graphics are pixel style and work very well here. lots of work went into the music as over ten composers, like “Adhesive Wombat”, “Ties”, “MegaNeko” and more contributed to make over 20 songs. That’s team work for ya. The action is fast pace and there is loads of content. The developers ‘Fabraz’ did a nice job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker want to see how well Slime-san does on the consoles. Slime-san may be moving fast but not fast enough for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

The Mummy Demastered

The Mummy Demastered is a new 16-bit 2D action exploration game developed by ‘WayForward’. It’s coming out 24th of October for the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and PS4. The Mummy was loved by many people but this is a demastered 16-bit action packed new version. Let’s take a look.

The Mummy Demastered will straight away remind you of a certain game that had a similar look. That’s right… Metroid. There are many rooms, different areas and lots of exploration. Basically the story in The Mummy Demastered is that an ancient evil has arisen somehow. Princess Ahmanet has brought a supernatural army with her. An army of monsters, undead, insects and much more. Players control an elite is from the monster hunting organisation called Prodigium. You and your team are at the scene but you lost contact with them (as always). You need to know if they are okay and so you search but the primary objective is to defend humanity from evil. But… Will the bad guys let you?

Now games like this automatically bring up instant expectations. Many gamers want lots of rooms and areas to explore. Many want a map or a build as you go map of the levels and areas to make navigation easier and reduce the chances of going in circles. We want a lot of variety to enemies which require different tactics weapons to deal with. So The Mummy Demastered is not going to have an easy time so let’s keep an eye on this game to see if it meets expectations for not and we at X35 Earthwalker aren’t pleased with everything.

We checked out some gameplay and it’s what we thought. Honestly not much to say, it’s supposed to be 16-bit, it’s 2D, exploration is crucial, use mysterious artifacts, weapons and upgrades to fight your way through the horde. We aren’t saying this is a bad thing but what you see is what you get. There is a variety of environments like abandoned tunnels, tombs, streets of London and forests.

Overall this is a fun looking game. The sounds and music are great. Now it does look like the difficulty level of The Mummy Demastered might be too low at the moment from what we have seen. So we will just have to see. The developers ‘WayForward’ did a great job here. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep an ear open for this game. The Mummy Demastered might be worth checking out. Evil may have arisen in this game but evil could arise above… the ‘Earth Walk!’

JYDGE is a top down shooter game developed by ’10tons’. It’s coming out October 6th for Xbox One, will come on PC and Nintendo later this year but already out on PS4. This game is said to contain brutal justice. Let’s take a look.

In JYDGE players basically must build their own Jydge with which to handle and eliminate crime in the megacity called Edenbyrg. Now this isn’t any normal justice. This is violent, brutal justice. Get in there and gun down all the criminals and scum of the mega city. No handcuffs, not court, no innocent until proven guilty and no mercy. Use rocket launchers to blow stuff up, smash through walls or riot shields to protect yourself from harm. Just get in there.

You can modify your Jydge to suit your play style or the situation at hand. You can modify your gavel rifle deciding which parts have which effects and deciding which companion drones to join you on your mission. So are you going to have a stealthy Judge who can blend in with the environment using chameleon or will you just go all guns blazing. It’s up to the player.

Jydge his said to have over a billion different configurations concerning mods, companions, cybernetics and items. Now that’s a ridiculously large range of options. Let’s hope that’s the truth though. So many options to serve justice with like: rockets, electricity, fire lead, lasers and more. Don’t forget to collect medals and unlock new equipment to test your abilities, situation solving skills and get more options. Oh in case you haven’t guessed yet, the environments are very destructible.

Jydge does sort of reminds us of smash TV that old game which was a top down shooter with many ways to die. Best of all Judge has local co-op which means you can call in a squad of your own to help you demolish the place faster and solve any situation. The level of destruction will be crazy. We respect any game that has local co-op.

Overall this game seems quite cool. The graphics are good, the sounds are good too. The level designs are great though. The developers, ’10tons’ did well with this game. This game might be worth checking out. Justice is important but certainly not as important… as the ‘Earth Walk!’

Bulb Boy is a 2D point and click horror adventure developed by ‘Bulbware’. It’s coming to Xbox One 6th of October but already out on PC and Nintendo Switch. This game looks creepy but we hear it’s quite unique. Let’s take a look.

Players control Bulb boy who lives in the bulbhouse (get it?). One night though, Bulb boy suddenly wakes up from a terrible nightmare to learn that terrifying monsters are around and that his family has disappeared. What’s a bulb to do? He has to use his “glass head” to save the day.

Point and click games always have puzzles. They have to, otherwise there really can’t be much to the gameplay. So there will be puzzles. The horrifying monsters are there and will put up a fight, so defeat them you must. Also, what’s a point and click game without some secrets. Yeah, so go find them.

Bulb boy has a big task ahead of, good thing he has abilities. He can withstand electricity and even unscrew his head to accomplish certain things. Bulb boy also isn’t the only playable character. That’s right, you can play as other family members and relive Bulb boys childhood memories.

We checked out some gameplay and the game works well with the whole bulb head mechanic. For example we saw bulb boy screw of his head and place it on a knights armour and then he used the weapon in the armours hand to slice a monster. He attached his head to a chandelier for greater light. The monsters are definitely creepy and the horror is done quite well, we would say.

Overall, Bulb Boy is a unique game but we don’t believe it’s our type of game. Not a big fan of the style and it doesn’t seem interesting enough but then again this could be just the thing for other gamers, so we do encourage that you do your own little research on the game. The graphics are good and the sounds are nice too. The developers ‘Bulbware’ did a good job with this game. Bulb boy might be worth checking out. Bulb boy must use his inner light but one thing always lights things up… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Morphite is a new atmospheric exploration sci-fi shooter game developed by ‘Crescent Moon Games’. Morphite is coming out the 7th of September for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4, IOS and PC. Talk about making a game accessible. We at X35 Earthwalker love that.

Morphite did get our attention straight up we can say that this is for gamers who like exploration, space and future like stuff. This game was inspired by some old classic games like Metroid Prime and Ratchet & Clank. So already we have certain expectations of Morphite. Sort of think of this like a more combat focused, deep story, poly style graphic looking no man’s sky but better.

There is a mysterious rare material called ‘Morphite’. Your goal is to unravel this mystery by traveling and exploring the galaxy. On your journey you will need to research animals & plants while taking on hostile entities in combat. Not everything you see is friendly. So with Morphite, players can expect an open-ended player driven discovery and exploration. The developers stated that this game is set to be “a deep and enriching single player experience”. If you haven’t guessed it by now, Morphite is set far in the future where humanity as already populated the distant reaches of space. Count us out. In terms of the story, the official website says, “The player takes on the role of Myrah Kale, a young woman residing on a space station and workshop under the care of her surrogate father, Mr. Mason. What starts as a simple exploratory mission to gather supplies to support their shop rapidly turns into a journey revealing Myrah’s unknown past and her relationship to a rare, coveted, and nearly extinct material called Morphite.”

Now Morphite has quite the amount to offer in terms of gameplay action. After all this game is about exploration. There are many worlds in Morphite and they are all random generated. There are a wide range of things for players to find and check out. You will find many different caves, landscapes, rivers, various creature types; however in space there are space stations to explore but they may not be normal ones as some space stations are abandoned or ruled by alien life. Scanning creatures is important because that information can be sold to upgrade your ships and weapons. Real time space combat. There are random vehicles and weapons that can be found on various planets. Environmental puzzle solving. Fully voiced main storyline. Best of all there are huge bosses to fight and hopefully defeat and much more.

Overall Morphite looks like a lot of fun. It certainly has lots of deep mechanics and features within. The graphics are Poly styled and the sounds are nice. The way the health and ammo floats to you after you kill an hostile entity definitely reminds us of Metroid. The developers ‘Crescent Moon Games’ did an excellent job with this game. It is worth checking out. Now Morphite is rare indeed but not as rare… as the ‘Earth Walk!’

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is a new action adventure game developed by ‘Lizardcube’ is coming out April 18th for the Xbox One, PC Nintendo switch and PS4. The Wonder boy series continues. We personally have never heard of Wonder boy but this game ‘The Dragon’s trap’ has one game feature that instantly gets our attention.

In this game the main character (Hu-man) has been cursed by the Meka-Dragon. The curse made him into a half human, half lizard person-thing. Off course he isn’t happy like this so sets off to find a cure. You learn that the only way to turn back normal human is to find the ‘Salamander Cross’. The strange thing in Dragon’s trap is that this curse gets worse with every dragon the main character kills. He transforms into different animals each time.

The locations in this game are said to be large and interconnected. Each location is filled filled with many monsters and dragons. If you don’t want Hu-man then you can play as Hu-girl. Eventually your character will transform into a: Mouse-man, Lion-man, Hawk-man, Lizard-man and Piranha-man. Each form has their own unique abilities which are needed to traverse and explore. So far we like Lizard-man the most.

The most interesting and coolest thing about this game is the feature allowing the player to switch between modern graphics and sound to 8-but graphics and sound whenever you want, this includes gameplay. This isn’t the first game to do this. Halo CE anniversary did this and it’s a awesome feature to have. With one click of the button you can see you could see how halo looked back then and then click again to see it with the modern high graphics. Same with this game. Check out Dragon’s trap trailers to see this for yourself. It’s very good and this alone makes Dragon’s trap stand out from other games.

We have checked out some gameplay and from what we have seen, it looks fun. The Mouse-man can cling to surfaces ad fun along them as if it was the ground. This game even has an cloud enemy. A cloud that wears sunglasses! It even tries to act cool. We are liking it the game already. There is a cyclops, skeletons and other weird looking enemies. The game works and flows very well. The graphics are good for it’s style and looks real friendly. The music is very well done and the sounds are good as well. The developers ‘Lizardcube’ have done well with this game. This might be worth checking out.

Snake pass is a new 3D physics based puzzle platform game, developed by ‘Sumo Digital’, coming out 28th of March for the US but 29th for Europe on Xbox One, Steam, Windows 10, Nintendo Switch and PS4. In this game you play ‘Noodle’ the snake who has a friend, a humming bird called ‘Doodle’. Basically their natural habitat, ‘Haven Tor’ has been invaded by a mysterious interloper who is disturbing the peace and order of the place. So Noodle and Doodle are going to handle the problem.

This game just looks fun. Noodle looks like he is a curios snake but also at times silly. A nice design for a snake and already that makes us like Noodle. We don’t get that same feel from Doodle but we will have to see more of that character from the game in time. As Noodle, you have to slither around, climb, wrap around, twist and reach your way through the levels to reach ledges, collect objects and pull levers. The movement of the snake is excellent and you can tell that some time went into just the snakes movement alone. It pays of here. What’s also great is that you get to swim and go through water like what snakes do. Once in the water you are free to swim and move as you please and that’s awesome. It’s always great for any game to have some realistic features.

This game has 4 world theme. Each world has their own unique features and hazards just waiting for the player. There are 15 levels to conquer and each one filled with snake based obstacles. This game has a simple but correct learning curve. The levels start of simple and then get increasingly difficult to the point where there may be moments where you scratch your head. We are interested to see what these levels contain and fully look like but we all must wait. What we do know is that since it’s a 3D puzzle platformer, you know that their will be lots of collectibles. We see glowy blue lights, coins and green symbols. So it isn’t just slithering around.

This game looks very nice. The graphics look are great and everything is very colourful. The environments are very interesting as they remind us of super mario galaxy with the whole floating areas and stuff. The sounds are better though, especially the sound of the water and your movements through it. The animations of the snake are all very good. Lots of effort has definitely went into this game. The developers ”Sumo Digital’ did a very good job with this game. X35 Earthwalker himself says that his favourite thing about the game so far seems to be the snake, ‘Noodle’.

Overall this seems like a fun game that even children would enjoy playing. There should be lots to do and want to know more about the game. It just may be worth checking out but whether you do or not… Never forget to do the ‘Earth Walk’!
