The Riftbreaker: Into The Dark is the second world expansion and this game is already big enough. So we just know that this expansion is going to bring the good stuff. The Riftbreaker: Into The Dark is a strategy action Role playing game and a darn good one at that. Now if you want to know more about the base game then read our G-blog on it. X35 Earthwalker himself played this game. So he knows what’s up. Let’s take a look.
Right off there bat we can say that The Riftbreaker is an excellent game. High level graphics and excellent attention to details. The planet looks cool and great to explore. There’s a variety of areas and they got their own biosystem. Now we hear that The Riftbreaker: Into The Dark, as in this new expansion would bring in even a new biome. This is quite biog as that means players will get to explore new parts of the planet that we couldn’t before. More of the planet is being opened up. So get your exploration on concerning the caverns of Galatea 37.
There’s a whole new way of traversing in The Riftbreaker: Into The Dark. You can now drill and tunnel through the walls of the caverns themselves. There’s new samples to research and even new technologies. The question is how much though? Apparently we also have to save this world from an “Enemy within”. So we got something big down here. That makes sense though. A whole alien planet and there’s an underground section. There has to be something massive down there. That’s what makes things scary-ish.
We checked out some The Riftbreaker: Into The Dark gameplay and it’s what we expected. It’s dark and a dangerous location. Being underground automatically adds a layer of dangers that the surface won’t have. There’s big underground creatures that will require the new weapons and tech to deal with them and even repel their attacks. Now use these new tech and build your base. After all you can’t talk about The Riftbreaker: Into The Dark and ignore the base building. Buildings is the way and you HAVE to do it. So get to it.
Overall The Riftbreaker: Into The Dark looks like it’s going to be fantastic. They must make sure that players have the option to travel between the surface and the underground. The massive beasts better be actually massive and scary. Use the darkness to make the fear optional for players. There’s actually loads of ideas for tech and weapons in a game like this. So you developers better not hold back. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to see what truly lies within this expansion. Now The Riftbreaker: Into The Dark may have a whole underground biosystem but it’s all to simple and small for… the ‘Earth Walk!’
The Callisto Protocol, that next level survival horror game is back at it… not like a crack addict. The new game mode is here! It’s called Riot Mode. We heard about this mode but off course had to wait. Not anymore. X35 Earthwalker, the best and greatest gamer of all time, gave it a try. There’s lots to say but we will try to shorten this, maybe explain more on the podcast, regardless; read this or you a bum. Let’s take a look.
Riot Mode is all about survival… surviving for as long as you can actually. There’s no set goal like get to wave 50. You just keep going until you die. We aren’t a fan of horde modes like that. We prefer a set goal. Something to conquer. You spawn in a room and make your way through to the main map. More on the room later by the way. Once in, you Riot Mode begins. Each wave spawns in enemies from the main campaign. So be prepared to deal with them all. As you slay and survive waves, you earn Callisto credits.
In Riot Mode you use the Callisto Credits to buy weapons or upgrades or even ammo. Whatever. For example you can upgrade the stun baton for more damage or buy the Assault rifle. What we don’t like is the restrictions on the load outs. You can only have one pistol weapon and one rifle type-ish weapon. So you can’t have Hand Cannon and Skunk Gun as both are small and classes like a pistol. You can’t have both Assault rifle and Riot Gun. Both are long two handed weapons. Not fun. Be careful how you spend as some things are more needed than others at certain times.
Around the map are other stuff too. You can find health packs and GRP battery dispensers. They are quite cheap but increase in cost as you really progress in waves. So decide, do you want to heal, or get more damage on a weapon? You can stack up on health packs too. You can even buy ‘gate fuses’ which can be used to activate traps in rooms. For example there’s a connector corridor that has a rotating razor trap which travels in a straight line. You can use that to mow down foes. There’s also a closing spike compactor trap which you can use to tap and smash enemies. One shot them.
Now Riot Mode is apparently very difficult. We have seen youtubers first attempt and one got to wave 27 and died. Another called dan got to wave 42. It might just be a skill thing though as X35 Earthwalker on his first attempt got to wave 61. If you are a master at The Callisto Protocol and dealing with enemies then you will have minimal issues. The problems start when swarms of different enemies mix together. If you have fat guys throwing their weight at you, while a security robot has you in his line of sight, while an exploder its rapidly approaching… then you will experience pain. Unfair pain. Some enemies you can’t ignore and have to dodge; however some attacks keep you in place or stagger you, setting you up for strikes.
Arguable the biggest threat is the two head. He doesn’t wait his turn in combat. He comes for you no matter what. He does big damage and you have to respect it. Prioritise him. Yet if the biophage in security uniform are on you, then tough luck as he is major aggressive and will keep you dodging or getting slapped around, while two head approaches. The best weapon is rampage mode. When activated you have unlimited ammo and literally one shot EVERY enemy for 30 seconds. Use this mode wisely. It will save your life. Rampage Mode is the best thing in this game.
Remember that starting room? Well there’s more to it. It’s actually the room to pick your starting perks. What?! Perks?! Yeah, the game doesn’t tell you. X35 Earthwalker discovered this by himself. You unlock them as you play and progress. X35 Earthwalker unlocked all in his first try (He is the best after all). There’s like 15 perks. You can select a maximum of 3. Then jump in.
Now for the rewards. When you play, you unlock the Hazmat suit. It’s a cool design. We definitely like this. Other from that… nothing. So let’s talk about this. Riot Mode is definitely fun and can get real intense. It’s a great addition to The Callisto Protocol. It is lacking some things though. The fact that there’s no goals and i9t’s a go on forever thing means it suffers from the same problem as other modes. It gets boring fast. When X35 Earthwalker got to wave 55, he did get bored and tired. He pushed on only because he set goals for himself like get to wave 60 or pass 100000 score. He did both by the way.
The other issue is that there’s nothing to earn. You get the hazmat suit and that’s it. It’s not even like you need to reach wave 60 to get it. You basically just have to play. So Riot Mode will die quite fast. Developers need to understand what players want. Riot Mode needs goals, Riot Mode needs prizes and rewards. Riot Mode needs something to keep players going. The combat is as solid as ever. The Callisto Protocol is currently the best survival game right now. Riot Mode has good potential but it must be capitalised on.
Quick update: X35 Earthwalker literally just did his third attempt at Riot Mode and He got to wave 102! That’s right. Possibly the first to do it too. It took too long. Developers, you need to make those later waves shorter. X35 got seriously bored, especially in the last 20 waves. So much sacrifice for no reward. That right… got nothing for doing it besides just a platinum medal in game. Oh well. Part of the X35 Earthwalker gaming achievements.
X35 Earthwalker has set himself another goal in Riot Mode and once that’s complete, then there’s no other reason to play again. So developers, look into this and make some adjustments. Now Riot Mode may be crazy but it’s too small for… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Layers of Fear is a First person psychological horror game developed by ‘anshar studios‘ and published by ‘Bloober Team‘. Layers of Fear iOS said to be coming out the 15th of June 2023 on the Xbox Series X, PS5 and pc. X35 Earthwalker has never been scared by a horror game. Layers of Fear ain’t the new kid on the block in the horror world. Let’s take a look.
Layers of Fear, well this version of it is more like a compilation. This installment contains “both Layers of Fear and Layers of Fear 2, along with all DLCs—including the new ‘The Final Note’ DLC”. So fans of Layers of Fear will most likely appreciate this. They can face the horrors once again but with basically improved everything, especially in terms of visuals. Layers of Fear is made in Unreal Engine 5. So yeah… set your expectations.
Remember we mentioned Unreal Engine 5? There’s also supports Ray Tracing, HDR, and 4K resolution. So you just know the Xbox Series X will dominate here. Layers of Fear has new storylines including “the never-before-revealed story of The Writer ties everything together”. So veteran Layers of Fear characters have some new content to look forward to.
We checked out some Layers of Fear gameplay and it’s what we expected. After all Layers of Fear is described as a psychological horror game. So expect most of the horror to come for your mind. Expect darkness… a lot of it. Expect sounds coming from certain places. Expect threats to be showing up, especially out of reach but not doing anything yet… but you know it’s going to be a real threat later. We know for a fact that Layers of Fear won’t be able to scare us.
Overall Layers of Fear looks like out will be an alright game. It hasn’t impressed us though. The Layers of Fear fans and the fans of horror may go crazy for it though. Let’s see. Thew graphics and visuals are definitely there. They are excellent. We have to give it that. Keep the light source on and working and try not to lose your mind. The developers ‘Anshar studios’ have done a very good job with this. We at X35 Earthwalker just can’t be scared by this game. It ain’t got what it takes. Now Layers of Fear may got amped up but it’s still too small for… the ‘Earth Walk!’
AWAY: The Survival Series is a third person adventure game developed by ‘Breaking Walls studio’ and published by ‘Game seer ventures’. AWAY: The Survival Series is said to be coming out the 1st of June 2023 on the Xbox Series X and Xbox One. It’s already out on PlayStation and pc back in 2021. X35 Earthwalker never heard of this game before until recent. AWAY: The Survival Series just might be a different experience. Let’s take a look.
AWAY: The Survival Series has a simple story going on but serious. Basically players control certain creatures. They are described as the last remaining animals on earth. The top priority here is survival. The setting is a post apocalyptic looking future. The planet is described as decaying. Let the fight for survival begin.
AWAY: The Survival Series isn’t going to make it easy for you… hopefully. You can control a sugar glider. Which means some serious air time as you glide through the trees and off course face and fight predators. AWAY: The Survival Series has the main story off course but there’s also side quests too. So don’t be afraid to go off the beaten path… as they say.
We checked out some AWAY: The Survival Series gameplay and it’s not exactly what we expected. It’s a nature documentary that’s all about you. You fight larger foes and hunt down small prey. Some animal dudes are too much for you, so stealth is required. Apex predators are apex predators for a reason. How do you feel about crocodiles?… The other animals are lizards, beetles and crabs. You have to unlock them though. They are hidden, so make sure to be looking for them in the environments.
Overall AWAY: The Survival Series looks like a good game. Definitely something different and feels new even though it isn’t. Biggest concern is the difficulty of survival. Does look like it’s going to be an easy adventure and quite merciful. Sigh… The graphics are very good. The environments are excellent from what we can see. We like the variety in the areas. Definitely looks like places for animals and a world where the wildlife has now taken over. The developers ‘Breaking Walls studios’ have done a very good job. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to hear what happens with AWAY: The Survival Series. Now AWAY: The Survival Series may have the last remaining animals but they would all be removed by… the ‘Earth Walk!’
After Us is an action adventure game developed by ‘Piccolo studios‘ and ‘Private Division’. After Us is said to be coming out the 23rd of May 2023 on the Xbox Series X, PS5 and pc. X35 Earthwalker will judge this game himself. After Us is doesn’t look like it’s playing around. Let’s take a look.
The story in After Us is that you are Gaia, the spirit of life. You are here to salvage souls. More specifically the souls of extinct animals… hey there Dodo bird. The last of the animals are dead and, who’s called mother, has used up all of her life force to save their souls. Gaia is to bring those souls back to mothers ark. So yeah, get out there and navigate your way to those souls.
After Us will have players learn the fates of these creatures as you revive them. Some examples were given. The final eagle was caged. The last whale was harpooned. The last deer was hunted down… probably tasted good too. So warning to players… things might get emotional. Weak players might cry.
After Us right off the gate does look really cool. It clearly wants to be a visually amazing type game. As in, as the player travels, you take in the sights and say wow. We have played multiple like that and so we will hold this game to a high but fair standard. So After Us… what chu got? We will say this though. We like that Gaia brings beauty and life back into the world. Undoing all the negative aspects of the world. It’s great to see. the effects need to be fitting and top level.
After Us is also a platformer game. So expect to move, explore, jump, and get around. Some even through in the puzzle description. So make sure your brain is activated for this one. Gaia has traversal abilities to help with the world navigation. Dash, jump and even glide. Good thing too as there’s some deadly traps… so we heard.
We checked out some After Us gameplay and it’s mostly what we expected. After Us certainly looks cool. We like what we see. Hopefully there’s good information concerning the world After Us is set in. There’s not just traps but also actual active threats. There’s devourers who are these “oil-covered” beings that roam the wasteland. They are looking for any remaining life.
Overall After Us looks like a very good game. We like the design of the animals souls and its effects. The visuals are excellent. The graphics are good. The animations are alright for 2023. The details are good. There’s definitely something going on here. The developers ‘Piccolo studios’ have done a very good job here. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep an ear open concerning After Us. Now After Us may have vulnerable souls but they would have been saved a long time ago but… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Amnesia: The Bunker is a first person horror game develop and published by ‘Frictional games‘. Amnesia: The Bunker is said to be coming out the 23rd of May 2023 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and pc. X35 Earthwalker wasn’t impressed with the original Amnesia. Amnesia: The Bunker looks like it’s going to bring a heavier hit. Let’s take a look.
Amnesia: The Bunker is set in a World War one bunker. You are a french soldier Henri Clément. There’s no safety here though. It’s Amnesia. You should know what to expect. Dark areas, sounds, noises, danger, and ultimately you have to stay alive and sane. Almost as important as staying alive is keeping the lights on. Keep them on.
You aren’t defenceless in Amnesia: The Bunker. You have a revolver but only a single bullet in it… maybe you can find more. You can also get your hands on grenades which have an obvious purpose. Use a noisy dynamo flashlight and there’s also a pocket watch too. You know there’s puzzles involved. So players will have to use some of the old brain.
Amnesia: The Bunker has a crafting system so that means scavenging like a hobo is needed. Craft for the things you need to survive which is quite a bit as there’s what’s described as an “ever-present threat”. Something is here with you and it’s focused on you. Your moves and the sounds you make gets its attention. It will react. So players can’t have a linear play style. You must mix things up. We even heard there’s some randomised and unpredictable stuff going on. It’s been said that Amnesia: The Bunker makes sure no play through is the same.
We checked out some Amnesia: The Bunker gameplay and it’s what we expected. The visuals do look very good. The details are just alright. The lighting is excellent. The atmosphere doesn’t impress us but we are sure it will hit different when you played. We hope this game nails the mechanic of the major threat reacting to your actions and off course how your decisions affects the outcome. This mechanic alone when done right will be the game changer. Amnesia: The Bunker has been described as ‘semi-open world’.
Overall Amnesia: The Bunker looks like a very good game. When you factor in everything it seems like there’s a lot going on for a game of this type. There’s mysteries to be solved as well like what happened to the other soldiers and where are the officers? Hopefully most of these mysteries can only be learned and solved through information int her game and not spelled out for you. The exploring and diligent players can benefit. The developers ‘Frictional games’ have done a very good job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep an ear open for this game. Now Amnesia: The Bunker may have an ever-present threat but it doesn’t even bother… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Warlander is an action massive multiple online game developed by ‘Toylogic‘ and published by ‘Plaion‘. Warlander is said to come out the 18th of May 2023 on the Xbox Series X and PS5 but already out on pc. X35 Earthwalker is the universes ultimate strategist so games like this are easy. Warlander is trying to bring exciting gameplay. Let’s take a look.
Warlander is all about war… in the land. something like that. Basically you are in an army and your job is to slay the enemies, raid their stronghold, destroy the core to win the match. There’s at times multiple armies. Maybe even 5. Yeah, think about that. Warlander might be on to something but can they deliver.
So there are different classes: Warrior, Cleric and Mage. These have clear roles and different abilities. Warrior is the main force, strong, tacky, first on the field, hold their own in close and range. Cleric heals, supports and builds walls and siege weapons fast. Mage has killer crows, smoke, fire and lightning. Cause disruption and can be real annoying.
Now of course there’s more going on than just stab and slice in Warlander. There’s siege weapons which the Cleric class builds faster. There’s catapults and defensive measures. There’s even what looks like a mech that’s rolling up and bringing the destruction. There’s what looks like a real war going on and we are here for that.
We checked out some Warlander gameplay and it’s what we expected. Lots of people fighting, explosions happening over there. Long range attacks from up there. Walls erected up front. Siege weapons being rolled in. There’s a number of things happening. Structures are being destroyed and crumbling. We see useful ranged weapons. Hopefully the balance between classes are on point, as tough as it may be.
Overall Warlander looks like a fun game with lots of room for tactics. How balanced is it though? We don’t know. The visuals are looking good for sure. The animations are good and silly. Fitting the style and tone of the game. Warlander is looking like it’s about that action. The developers ‘Toylogic’ have done a very good job so far. X35 Earthwalker might just have to keep one eye open for this game. Now Warlander may have strongholds to raid but none of their tactics won’t work against… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is a turn based role playing game developed and published by ‘Cyberconnect2‘. Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is said to be coming out the 11th of May on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and pc. X35 Earthwalker was waiting for this sequal and has specific expectations. Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 looking like it wants to add a bit more of everything in here. Let’s take a look.
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is back and it wants to be intense. So what’s happening now is that the children, a year later, are on another mission, in another tank. Confused? Let us explain. You did fight and win the war as shown in the first game but then the children got called by pharaoh to help with “the investigation of the recovered Taranis”. The tank goes crazy and heads out “on a deadly rampage”. It traps and absconds with a some people. Now Malt and the remaining youngsters give chase aboard… the Tarascus! What a change. So yeah, load your cannons and get to it.
Now if you played Fuga: Melodies of Steel then you already know what to expect from this game. Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 will play the same but remember what we said. Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 wants to add a bit more of everything. So picture what you remember and then add more. For example some players will remember making some hard decisions… things will get harder and more important as your choices affect the judgement gauge. This will impact and change “how events play out.” Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 claims that players are the author of their own story. We hope Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 can get this ‘your choices affect the story’ mechanic right as many games fail at this.
Another thing that’s new and improved is the Soul Cannon. Thank goodness they made this change as X35 Earthwalker never used the Soul Cannon before. Being the best player of all time, he didn’t need it. The problem is that it’s so powerful and cool but you can’t use it. If you do, that’s a bad thing. So if you play very well and have excellent strategies, you never got to use an awesome weapon. Now there’s an Managarm. This Managarm is like a smaller Soul Cannon and it only drains the energy of a child, not devour their soul. So the kid who powers it will just be unavailable until the next intermission.
The judgement gauge will also unlock you new abilities known as leader skills. These make choices matter more as you want to unlock as many abilities as possible for more strategies and options so players may want to get a blend of both sides. Both Sides? Empathy and Resolution. Not sure why they are on opposites ends as it’s easy to do both but here in Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2, your choices are either one or the other. ‘We strike first’ is from the Resolution side and it lets you and your allies attack first. ‘Careful’ is from the empathy side and it hexes an enemies sight to make its attack fail’. So think about this.
We checked out some Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 gameplay and it’s what we expected. We liked that the battle system has been upgraded and improved. We hope for more use for the children who don’t get used in combat and mostly warm the bench. It’s good to hear that the improvements and new additions to the battle system was based on player feedback. Shows they are listening. There’s also changes to the branch routes you take on your journey, including calling in an airship to back you up. You can get an air raid, supplies or be transported to another destination. This again adds more to what’s happening. New character as well, Vanilla, first daughter of Gasco. She looks like she means business.
The weight of despair, rage, and loss will shake you to your core in Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2—the RPG of hard choices and tough decisions!
Overall Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is looking like an excellent game and a step up from the first game. Many players have gone through some emotions on their journey through Fuga: Melodies of Steel. Well Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is saying it wants to turn this up. Expect “despair, rage and loss.” The developers ‘Cyberconnect2’ have done a fantastic job so far. We at ‘X35 Earthwalker‘ are going to keep our eyes on this game. Now Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 may have a new tank and firepower but it’s not effective against… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Minecraft Legends is a real time action strategy game developed by ‘Mojang Studios‘ and ‘Blackbird Interactive‘ but published by ‘Xbox Game Studios‘. Minecraft Legends is a big game with lots of ‘room potential’. X35 Earthwalker has already dived into Minecraft Legends. There’s lots to see. So here are X35’s initial thoughts and some gameplay. Let’s take a look.
Minecraft Legends is definitely a completely different thing for Minecraft. Matter of fact on the same day that Minecraft Legends came out we played Minecraft Dungeons. That was an excellent game but very different from what was to come. The opening cutscenes are real clean and truly explain what’s going on. We get introduced to these very important beings known as ‘Knowledge, Foresight and Action’. They basically call you, summon you, somewhat arm you and depend on you to save their world. We have questions definitely. Like does out character know these beings? Why did he so quickly accept to help them? What’s the reward? To list a few.
Now the controls are a big one though. There’s many mechanics and many things you can do and control. You can control and command units under your control, you can build structures, harvest materials, select upgrades (basically), do specific commands concerning the movements and strategy for your units. This is a lot of stuff but it can get deeper like selecting specifically which unit or unit types do your command. We like that this provides lots of room for strategy and offers more controls for players. Now you will need some time to get use to all these controls before you can truly flow. Movement is smooth and makes sense. No issues with movement.
There’s different mounts in Minecraft Legends. X35 Earthwalker found a beetle… Brilliant Beetle. It has the ability to climb any surface basically. So walls don’t matter. So yeah, looking forward to seeing what other mounts there are but we doubt X35 will be changing anytime soon. The progression in Minecraft Legends seem fair and you feel it fast. You need the resources to build new things including structures that will unlock the means to gather new materials like Redstone and iron. You get access to new units very quickly and so your army capabilities grows.
Speaking of units players will start off with a melee and ranged unit. Cobblestone golem and plank golem. Both are useful and have totally different functions but the plank golem is definitely far more effective so far. It definitely looks like the cobblestone golem needs a damage buff for destroying structures. Destroying structures is basically their main function and yet they don’t seem that efficient at it. They need a small power up. More units are on the way. Players can also command other things too. You can command skeletons, creepers and zombies. so recruit them and mix them with your army. They of course have their own attacks. The creatures and beings of the Overworld support you clearly. The fact that there’s fixed times to events add pressure to players. for example you will learn of an attack that the piglins have planned. They WILL attack tonight. You have to be there or that village or location will actually get attacked. So be prepared. The world is quite alive and has action going on. Time matters, especially when it comes to day and night.
Now lots of good things are said but here’s a big negative. Structure building… more like the taking it down part… more specifically the walls. You can place out a whole stretch of walls but a wall is that one square space. So when you are removing a part of the wall, you have to select each individual part and remove it. The option to hold down the button to remove the wall doesn’t appear instantly. You have to stand still by it for a moment. The whole process is slow. Maybe there is a way to highlight and select multiple wall segments for removal but we haven’t been told about it or shown in the game yet. We hope that gets sorted out. Also it doesn’t seem like we can get of the mount. Lame but if that’s the design choice then so be it. Some resources are much harder to find than others. As you be running around for a good while and still not find any. A bit more frequency would be good but we are on a higher difficulty and it does say that resources are less frequent so yeah… there’s that.
The map is very useful and gives the details that matter. We don’t like that the note showing your name is constantly there. It gets in the way and is annoying. There needs to be a way to remove it to make the map experience better. Raiding piglins structures and fighting them does feel good but those pigeons definitely have the advantage right now with their units. We have seen some big strong piglins who even act like artillery but direct though. Currently feeling outclassed but we making it happen though. What’s great its you can build certain structures to aid you in combat against the enemy. You can build stairs that lead up so you can get to the higher ground. Fortnite players will like and understand this. You can build a well house to act as a point of fast travel and a place to respawn too if defeated. So as you can see, players will have to plan and set up before a raid.
Here’s some Minecraft Legends gameplay below. Fun fact: Did you know that X35 Earthwalker found some, let’s say treasure, at the top of some trees. After a bit of parkour, he got it. So yeah, explore and keep your eyes open for goodies.
Overall Minecraft Legends so far is excellent. The developers have done an excellent job. There’s lots to do and get started on. There tons of potential here too. You just know updates and additions are coming to the game to enhance the world. We do what to see more though. It’s excellent but not where we want it to be and it’s not where it should be. Minecraft Legends is worth playing. We are aware of the competitive move against other players and additional modes but we are here for the campaign. Lastly Minecraft Legends being on Xbox Game Pass makes everything better. We can play this game on the move too. Something PlayStation can’t do. We will leave this here. X35 Earthwalker stands at the top. Now Minecraft Legends may have a hero and real time world but it’s all too slow and small for… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Stranded: Alien Dawn is a planet survival simulation game developed by ‘Haemimont games‘ and published ‘Frontier Foundry‘. Stranded: Alien Dawn is said to be coming out the 25th of April 2023 on the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and pc. An early access for pc was already out. The title does a great job of describing the game. X35 Earthwalker is the best at strategy and survival. Let’s take a look.
Stranded: Alien Dawn is all about survival and thriving. Here’s what happened. It’s seems a group of survivors crashed on to a planet. Your goal is to learn about your new environment and adapt to what’s going on. The players are in control of this group of survivors. Stranded: Alien Dawn is a strategy game at its core. Events and clear setbacks will come your way and how you respond will decide your survival chances. So far Stranded: Alien Dawn doesn’t seem that hard or crazy.
Now Stranded: Alien Dawn declares each player will have a unique play through. There’s “random story events” which is one factor to the game. There’s also going to be unpredictable and even dangerous weather blowing your way. Not just the weather and the managing. There’s also the alien wildlife. Are they really the aliens here? After all this is their planet. They are native. No one cares though. The alien wildlife just might be a problem.
Now survival games like this off course means resource management is required. You need to manage this small group of survivors and obviously keep them alive. Prevent or deal with disease and starvation. Get them a sandwich or something. Develop medicine, weapons and maybe some entertainment to keep spirits up. Stranded: Alien Dawn understands that people have needs. So how about a music sound system.
Now off course your bummy shelter is trash and not good protection or cover. In Stranded: Alien Dawn players can design and build their bases. Eventually becoming a fortified base with some high tech aspects. Hight tech as in maybe build your own space pad. Yeah, these games are realistic. Also available are defences for the perimeter like turrets and automated ones too.
We checked out some Stranded: Alien Dawn gameplay and it’s what we expected. It’s looking kind of clean though. Each survivor is said to have their own backstory and “levels of ability in key skills”. Positive and negative traits too. Quite deep. Their skills can be improved. Stranded: Alien Dawn also have the whole your choices matter mechanic. It’s easier to implement in games like this… so no excuses. This game has to be done well.
Overall Stranded: Alien Dawn does look like a good game and that it has some depth to it. For example you can furnish your base as well. So it’s not just about being practical but also cosmetic. We hope there’s lots to this game, that it’s actually difficult, many options and makes sense from a players perspective. The developers ‘Haemimont games’ have done a good job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker might keep an ear open for this game. Stranded: Alien Dawn may have alien planets and survival but it’s all to easy for… the ‘Earth Walk!’
