Extinction is a new action game developed by ‘Iron Galaxy‘. It’s coming out the 10th of April 2018 on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. This game stands out straight away for the fact that there are giant ogres swinging massive sized spiked clubs at us. let’s take a look.
Extinction has caught the eyes of many and for good reason. The first thing that came to our heads when we saw this was ‘Attack on Titan‘. Giant creatures, that easily over power humans and off course is a major threat to them. Pushing humanity to extinction and only certain people can has the skills or ability to kill them. Pretty cool.
The story is quite simple. Basically humanity is continuing to fight and kill each other in wars while the real threat, the real enemy were watching from the shadows, out of sight. Now they strike. Monsters who make it their goal to destroy humans. Now that we think about it, the story is also like Gears of war, with the locusts always being there. The most significant monsters are ogres that stand at 150ft tall. Those large ones also have much smaller minions that are around human size but still bigger. No one can stand up to these creatures, especially the big ones, except for a few who have been trained in the ways of the ancient order. Only with that kind of power can you hope to beat these things.
Players control a character called ‘Avil’ who is one of the last of Earth’s defenders. Off course this won’t be an easy task. Now Extinction claims to have a deep story campaign. We at X35 Earthwalker are actually interested and will certainly like to know more about this story. Will humans rely on a certain device or artefact to destroy all the ogres or will humanity literally have to kill them one by one? Players must save as many civilians as possible. There are many side missions also up for completion and doing so will reward players with upgrades.
To beat such powerful creatures who have overwhelming strength will require speed and mobility, which is what we have in Extinction. Enjoy free movement as you can like Indian Jones use your whip to grapple and reach locations, run along walls, travel up vertically or horizontally and more to manuever around these creatures to find their weak spots. The environment is fully destructible. This again changes things as walls you could have used could get destroyed and being behind a wall may not be as safe as you think. There are different game modes like ‘Extinction mode’ which is basically defending against wave after wave of monsters and there is ‘Skirmish mode’ where gamers can create battlegrounds of their own with different objectives which other players online can take on with a scoring system.
We checked out some gameplay of Extinction and we can say that it’s got quite a deep combat system. Mastering your grapple while is key. The ogres aren’t all same, there are different types which have different armour like gold, iron, bronze and more crazier ones. For example the gold armour is easy to grab onto with your whip, the iron armour can’t be destroyed but they have locks on them which can be destroyed so aim for that, the bone armour is mystical and can only be destroyed at specific times so timing is important, spiked armour is basically a no touch zone, as in if you land on those parts, you take damage and worst of all armour is the bright steel armour which can’t be destroyed regardless, as in nothing you can do. Scary right? The fights look smooth and real does make players focus on precision. We just hope the ogres don’t turn out to be a big joke as in slow movements and easy to beat. They better be fast, deadly and nothing to play around with.
Overall Extinction does look awesome. the graphics are great. The concept is really cool. the enemies are really cool. The story is interesting. The fighting system is great and the upgrades do shake things up and does make things easier for the main character Avil. Yes there isn’t a multiplayer but the online high score system is suitable for a game like this for now. The developers ‘Iron Galaxy’ did a fantastic job. We at X35 Earthwalker look forward to seeing what this game has got for us. Now 150ft tall orgs with clubs could crush anything but it still can’t crush… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is a new online 4 vs 4 action fighting game developed by ‘Soliel Ltd‘ and published by ‘Namco-bandai‘. It’s coming out later this year on the Xbox One, PS4 and Microsoft Windows. Naruto is very popular and some of the games weren’t as successful. what about this one? Let’s take a look.
Now let’s get the main thing first. Naruto to Buroto: Shinobi Strike is a 4 vs 4 fighting game. Even crazier is that all 8 fighters are present on the field and fighting all at the same time! Imagine Dragon Ball Fighter Z but all 6 fighters are going at it at the same time. Actually that sort of sounds like Dragon ball Z anyway. This instantly creates a lot of requirements for players. firstly there is so much more to manage and watch over during the fight. There is more danger and attacks incoming that need to be evaded, and countered. So much more room for strategies and support. Do you all go for your 1 v1’s or does one break at certain points to help out another or cover for another? Do your fighters switch who they face? There is so much more going on in this fight already.
Now there are different fighter types to take into account. There is Attack, Ranged, Defence and Heal. By the way, each Ninja can be anyone of these types. Attack types have higher attack power and speed. Ranged types have powerful projectiles and excel at fighting from a distance. Defence types are all reducing, blocking damage and reinforcing defences. Healing types are just about healing themselves and the others. So basically keeping everyone alive. Players must switch between their four ninjas according to the needs of their team. Do you need more damage, keep things at a distance, heal up or get defensive. Again, quite a lot to take into account. Now that we think about it, this does remind us of Final Fantasy 13 where you have different roles like the Ravager (attack), Sentinel (defence), Medic (healing). This sounds very cool so far concerning Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker.
There are multiple game modes. We know that there is Barrier battle where the attack and defence forces go at it in full combat but attacks forces must defeat the enemy boss who is sealed away. So undo the seal first and then defeat the boss. Flag battle is basically capture the flag but off course there is a ninja twist to it. Get the flag from the enemies… but will the enemy let you? There are sub modes like Subjugation, Escort and Extermination. The names should give gamers an idea of what those are about. Each game mode does sound very different from each other in the most part. The actual differences does actually mean different strategies are required unlike game modes where the same tactics can be applied. Besides the more options the better to some extent.
We checked out some gameplay of Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and it looks very exciting in terms of ninjas. You can run, dash, zoom, throw a shuriken and then teleport to the destination of that thrown object. There is lightning like attacks, running along walls and different surfaces and attacks coming from tress and distances. Multiple attacks and abilities. It can get quite hectic because everything is happening around you. You could be fighting an enemy and having a tough battle, chasing them around and trading attacks and then suddenly a message flashes on your screen letting you know that you have the enemies flag or they have your flag forcing you to make a decision: do you go and get your flag or do you swap ninjas or have faith in your team to handle the situation and finish the fight. Gets you thinking. Knowing when to use techniques to get you out of strings of attacks, knowing when to stay still and target with stronger ranged attacks. Lots of situations and lots of different techniques to choose between and use.
Overall Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker does look like a very good game. Some might even say explosive game. The graphics are a step up from previous Naruto games. The characters and surroundings look like an anime and a good one. The action is smooth from what we have seen even though there were some complaints concerning the beta but that’s a beta and we can trust that the end product is better. The developers ‘Soliel’ did a excellent job with this game and we at X35 Earthwalker look forward to seeing what else this game has really got for gamers. Now Ninjas are cool and Naruto is powerful but they certainly do not stand a chance against… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Gears of war is an awesome game and many will agree with that statement. X35 Earthwalker has played every Gears of war game and has completed the campaigns, mastered horde and more. The multiplayer is where the most attention is at. Many changes have come to the game, especially Gears of war 4. We at X35 Earthwalker can say that we aren’t happy with the direction the game is going in and the changed, especially recent ones.
First of all we will start of with Gears of war 3. Three has the best multiplayer. The mechanics were the best. It was the right pace. In Gears of war 4 the game is so fast paced that players don’t have time to perform executions anymore and those were a big part of the multiplayer. It was where you made a statement to your opponent. it’s where the salt was truly rubbed in. It was the fastest way to create a rival in the match. Now in 4, everything is so fast that no one has time to execute really and if they do it’s the same Gnasher execution. Making the game faster only seems to be something for pro players. 3 was actually new player friendly. New players could try 3 and actually have some fun because they stood a chance at doing something and fighting back. Gears of war 3 had the best multiplayer feel and mechanics. In 4, new players get slaughtered, bullied and abused in game. They don’t stand a chance.
The weapon selection was much better in Gears of war 3. Players can choose from Lancer, Hammerburst, Retro Lancer, Gnasher Shotgun and Sawed off Shotgun. Each weapon had a purpose, technically a counter and forced players to stay alert and have the ability to adapt in match. Gears of war 4 is seriously bad in this department. The retro lancer was removed because many Gnasher shotgun only using players, who love and breathe the Gnasher, complained. The developers listened and made it a power weapon only. Recently a decision was made for the same thing to happen to the Hammerburst. So soon the Hammerburst will be a power weapon as well. This is stupid and it’s the developers only wanting to please people who aren’t good enough to adapt to defeat people who use these guns. The sawed off and retro were good counters to the Gnasher shotgun. It prevented shotgun users from having their way all the time if used correctly. The hammer burst was excellent for supporting your team at a distance and it countered the retro lancer. The Enforcer smg has such a small clip that if you miss a few shots, you will not down your target meaning it isn’t a counter to the Gnasher shotgun. It’s very situational.
Soon the current state of Gears of war 4 will be lancer and Gnasher only. What about the Enforcer? Players already complain about that already. If you aren’t using the Gnasher then you are as they say “a noob who needs to go back to Call of Duty“. So even the enforcer isn’t safe, not that it’s any good really. A simple solution would be to make one mode where it’s like Gears of war 3 in terms of weapon selection while competitive or whatever has the similar settings to what the pros play. Core mode shouldn’t be touched. Only competitive should be adjusted to satisfy other players or create more options. Now new players who play Gears of war go into a match, get 5 kills and 17 deaths and don’t play again. At least with counter weapons you stand a chance against wall bouncing pros who live to feed of the weak. New players don’t know how to wall bounce. Honestly this new change has killed our excitement for the game. Probably just stick to Horde mode now.
So these changes, makes Gears of war have less variety, everyone has the same stuff all the time, more copying pro tournament, less new player friendly, one weapon based matches and more boring. Decision are clearly being made for one group of players and that’s a bad move here. Even the pacing of Gears of war 4 is too fast but that can’t really be changed. We still like e Gears of war 4 and think it’s a great game but these changes will make it just a good game. It’s clear we aren’t happy about this. Don’t be too surprised if you don’t see X35 Earthwalker on multiplayer as much anymore.
If you are happy about the changed then definitely good for you and we hope you continue to enjoy the game. To all those cry baby Gnasher only using players, well you got what you wanted so maybe less complaining now… so much hate mail to read through already. We just hope the developers think about what they are doing carefully. Now it doesn’t matter what happens to the weapons, it will never be a match for… the ‘Earth Walk!’
State of Decay 2 is the latest installment in the State of Decay franchise. It’s being developed by ‘Undead Labs‘ and published by ‘Microsoft Studios‘. It’s coming out in 2018 on the Xbox One and Windows 10. It will also be a ‘Xbox Play Anywhere’ game allowing more flexibility. Zombie survivals are risky games. Let’s take a look.
State of Decay 2 has put quite a bit of emphasis on team work. Even stating that “Nobody survives alone” which is a huge statement. We at X35 Earthwalker know of some who can easily survive alone but let’s see why. Basically the story is that somehow the dead has risen once again in America. As always the military, for some reason, couldn’t stop the zombies and now civilisation has fallen. Human is pretty much close to extinction. our question is “Is humanity nearly extinct all around the world or just America?”
Players must survive, find other survivors and build a community and work together. Start of with nothing off course but over time create a kitchen area, a place to eat, vegetable patches and areas to grow crops and before you know it, it’s a safe haven from all the evil zombies. This is where the whole multiplayer gameplay comes in. State of decay 2 is all about interacting and working together (hopefully) with other players to survive. Off course you could just go with three of your friends. That’s right, it’s also 4 player co-op. Games like this are always better with 4 player co-op and we are glad to see this here.
Now even though there is a lot of team work, each character has their own story in a way. They are different. Different moods, attitudes, goals and different level of determination for those goals. Your own skills that players must develop. Even your own decisions get remembered by the game. Your moral code, your ideas, your ways of survival will have big impact on your story. We honestly here this a lot in games like this but what game really creates effect consequences for this mechanic. it’s a big challenge and we hope it works very well here.
If you haven’t guessed it by now, yes it’s an open world game. Make all the choices you want but resource management is key. Everything is entered around your base. Build watch towers, work shops, infirmaries and more depending on what your goals and strategies are. You may be more combat ready or resource focused.
We checked out some State of Decay 2 gameplay and it has left us on the fence. It sort of reminds us of sims in some ways. The zombies themselves do look interesting. There are standard zombies, big belly zombies that explode and let out some strange fluids, large hulking fat zombies that charge you to try and rip you apart and more. The gameplay it self just doesn’t look all that interesting. Especially how the characters run (a bit bland). The sim like base building does look cool and creates ideas already as to what you would want to do (well the creative have anyway). Just that so far we haven’t seen anything that makes us want to jump on it right now. The open world, multiplayer, co-op action side of the game is what’s really cool right now and makes us want to see how that works. Will players have the option to betray and attack others? Will that in return just lead to a war community game? Many questions.
Overall this is a very cool game. The concept is not new but definitely works here. The graphics are top level with 4K graphics and Xbox one X enhanced. The graphics do look very nice and the attention to details is high as well. The aiming and battle all seems smooth and flows nicely. It’s clear a lot of work went into this game. The developers ‘Undead Labs’ did a excellent job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep an eye out to see how things go. Now working together is key but no matter the level of team work it really ain’t enough to beat… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Robocraft Infinity is a new action game developed by ‘Freejam‘. It’s coming out early 2018 on the Xbox One and PC. This game is all about getting creative and then letting your creativity wreck things in areas like style battles. Let’s take a look.
In Robocraft Infinity everything has been taken to a higher level. Even some reviewers have made it clear that Robocraft Infinity is better than Robocraft. So that’s a good sign. Basically in case you have never heard of this game, players construct robots and then you use them in arena like style combat against other robots and machines. Some robots are aerial, taking to the skies in dog fights, or bombarding anything below while others are land based destroying anything that enters it’s range. It’s up to the players to decide.
The robots are fully customisable. They can walk, hover, fly or drive. Robocraft Infinity also has new controls, new progression system, new achievements and physics as well as being remastered. Since many gamers will be designing different robots there is features that allow players to share what they created with others in the factory. This also means you can download other designs as well. It has been stated on the website that a “All cubes can be used infinitely on your robots when unlocked”.
We checked out some gameplay and this does look awesome. Constructing robots looks straight forward and works pretty much how you imagine it. Place the cubes and build up on them. Add the tires and other parts and before you know it, you have a powerful machine fit for combat, hopefully. Many robots are going at it. This forces players to be completely aware of what’s going on, what machines others are using, what types they are whether they stay in the air, or on the ground trying to ram you. So decide your order of priority and following it out. Lasers, blasts, ramming and more are happening everywhere. This does look exciting. What game modes? Any power ups? Stuff we don’t know yet. There are some objectives though.
Overall Robocraft Infinity seems like an awesome game and we at X35 Earthwalker are glad that it is coming to Xbox One this time. The graphics are excellent for it’s style. The environment and surroundings were design very well. The developers ‘Freejam’ did a excellent job with this game. They basically took a simple concept and made it awesome. We at X35 Earthwalker look forward to this game. Now you can build all the robots you want but they aren’t enough to stop… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Polygod is a new randomly generated first person shooter game developed by ‘Amplify games‘. It is coming out later this quarter of the year on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC but early access is already available, so check Steam for more information. Random generated games are serious business. Let’s take a look.
In Polygod players control a assassin only known as ‘Faceless the blessed’. You are taking part in a special event called the ‘Trials of the Gods’. Here you must battle the minions of the malignant gods. If that wasn’t enough, you must also take on the holy champions. Now straight away you know this game is going to be crazy in terms of the action. The concept is nothing new but it’s a good one that action gamers will already have a certain level on interest in.
Now the levels are all randomly generated and that word is a scary word. We at X35 Earthwalker are Spelunker masters and have experienced the wrath and unpredictable-ness of randomly generated levels. This means that Polygod is something gamers can’t plan for. speed runs become that much harder and nothing stays the same. In every level there is an successive altar of worship which you can use to exchange souls you collect for blessings which are power ups. This is cool so every level you have something to look forward too. So basically you are also getting more powerful all the time, which makes sense since you technically are facing the gods.
In case you were wondering you get souls by killing the minions. Since there are a lot of them, you will rack up souls in no time. Also there is permanent death, otherwise the game would be easy. So after each death you start again and will have a whole new experience since no level is the same. We hope so though.
Polygod has got an ace up their sleeve to make them stand out from all the other shooters. It’s called ‘Arena Shooter multi-player’. Basically think of free for all slayer matches in Halo but each map is randomly generated. That sounds crazy. No planning for spawn killing, or camping or set ups. Just pure action, adjustments and realistic skill. We like the idea of this. This is definitely new and interesting. We at X35 Earthwalker can imagine fighting each other in situations like that. Pure madness. They plan to evolve it a whole lot more by bringing in game types like capture the flag, they also want to add in altars and blessing s from the main game. Sounds awesome.
We checked out some gameplay and it’s sort of what we expected. The smooth movement, polygon looking surroundings and the backgrounds. There are 75 different blessings to acquire and use, 5 unique enemies per level and 5 boss fights. The game doesn’t sound big but maybe the size comes from the amount of levels. it looks great, runs great and the level designs are interesting. The enemies don’t come off as impressive at all. They seem more generic and something players won’t take too seriously in combat.
Overall Polygod is a good game with a awesome concept, especially the Arena Shooter multi-player. The developers ‘Amplify games’ did a excellent job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker want to see how this all goes, especially the multiplayer. It doesn’t matter how random you are, the one thing that is still ahead is… the ‘Earth walk!’
Far: Lone Sails is a new vehicle led adventure game developed by ‘Okomotive‘. It’s coming out somewhere later this quarter of the year on the PC but even later for the Xbox One and PS4. This game looks very different but how good is it. Let’s take a look.
Far: Lone Sails sounds quite simple. Basically you control and travel across an ocean but their a plot twist… the ocean has turned into a desert. Players are following tracks of a once flourishing civilisation. Who they are, where they went and what happened is not known. It won’t be a simple journey as there will off course be obstacles and worse hazardous weather. This means players will have to recognise what weather is happening and what must be done to the ship in response. This game sounds a whole lot more like a vehicle simulator than an adventure.
If you haven’t guessed by now, players can upgrade their vehicle to match and overcome the obstacles and natural hazards in Far: Lone Sails. As you continue this journey and get further along you will come across buildings and relics that provide information concerning the people or civilisation that the players are currently tracking. So basically creating a sense of progress and reward.
Now Far: Lone Sails is taking a different direction from everyone else. The scenery and surroundings look perfect for certain dried monsters to rise up and attack but this will not be the case here. Far: Lone Sails will have no monsters, no zombies, no rebels etc. Instead it’s just the player, their vehicle and probably the weather or ocean or whatever you want to call it. We at X35 Earthwalker appreciate this direction the developer are taking but so far we haven’t heard anything that gets us interested. We don’t need monsters and blood but so far nothing has caught us.
Vehicle maintenance is key here. You will have to put out any fires, repair any damages received. and operate the whole thing yourself like raising and lowering sails, adjusting vehicle settings and more. The whole game looks very nice too. the details to the vehicle are excellent. You can see everything. Very cool. The background and visuals have a very nice art style. Giving some clouds that smoky effect. There is no doubt that a lot of work and effort went into Far: Lone Sails.
We checked out some gameplay and it’s a bit more than what we thought at the start but not that much more. You re a little person with a big vehicle which you control. Going from left to right. Slow movement, stopping to make adjustments and then moving on. Yes you can leave the vehicle to do stuff but your main key is the vehicle, never forget that. Again we have not been grabbed by this game. Is it interesting… yes. Is it exciting… no.
Overall Far: Lone Sails is a good game. It’s good when you look at it for what it is. No it doesn’t compare to Gears of war, Outland or Super Mario. It’s a totally different game and must be seen that way. We conclude that it is good. Only some gamers will like this type. The graphics and music are very good. The developers ‘Okomotive’ did a good job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker aren’t looking forward to this game but we know others are. No matter how much you upgrade a vehicle it can’t keep up with… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Unruly Heroes is a new 2D action adventure game developed by ‘Magic Design Studios‘. It’s coming out later this quarter of the year on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC. This game has quite the story to tell. Let’s take a look.
Let’s start from the very beginning. Unruly Heroes was inspired by a famous Chinese legend which we are sure many have heard of. It’s called ‘A journey to the West’. The Monkey king legend. So straight away there are some expectations in terms of the story, it’s depth, music and messages for the gamers. Already we at X35 Earthwalker are interested.
The developers claim that Unruly Heroes will be an epic adventure and that it will be an unforgettable experience. We can see this being true. The concept behind the game and inspiration should make that easier to accomplish. There are four characters and straight away the creativity is shown. there is a human who seems to be spiritual based and is surrounded by light, maybe to symbolise a moral or holy nature. The next is a fat pig (KiHong) who appears to laugh a lot, suggesting that he’s the most laid back and relaxed one. The next is a large blue monster but humanoid, having knowledge and uses martial arts. The last is a monkey (WuKong) who has a staff and looks a bit too cool to be a regular staff wielding monkey.
Not much information is given concerning game but we have checked out some gameplay and it reminds us of ‘Rayman Origins‘. The gameplay looks awesome. Dash, run, jump, and off course lots of combat. Their are bosses to defeat and each of the four characters have different fighting styles. KiHong is very agile and relies a lot on strength tactics as well. The monkey is heavily reliant on his weapon which can change size and he can even turn into a bird. The large blue monster is martial arts hand to hand combat heavy with mighty strikes. The human who acts too graceful has mystical powers and uses light to strike enemies whether in balls of light or worse. So yep it’s quite clear who our favourite character is already.
From what we have already seen Unruly heroes looks awesome. KiHong has some awesome looking aerial moves and serious combos. There is a giant monster who looks like it’s going to become a problem. This game off course supports four player co-op which sounds awesome by the way. There is also a PvP mode which sounds even cooler. Hopefully none of the characters are OP. The bosses seem to have their own characteristics and styles which we certainly appreciate. The graphics and style are excellent indeed. Hand drawn art work and it looks amazing so far. Maybe if we saw more it might make our top 5 list.
Overall Unruly Heroes looks awesome. The concept is there, the graphics are amazing and the music is what we wanted. When you hear it, you think of Chinese legends which is what it should have. The developers ‘Magic Games Studios’ did an awesome job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker are looking forward to Unruly Heroes and what this game has to offer. Now the Unruly Heroes may been skilled fighters but even them combined aren’t a match for… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Titan Fall 2 is a serious game. Developed by ‘Respawn Entertainment‘ and published by Electronic Arts. The first Titan Fall game did something really awesome but did have some issues. Personally many critics and gamers were not so good at judging the game and instead just jumped on the negative train. Titan Fall is a great game but Titan Fall 2 is something else. It has what the first game had but more and better.
The first big thing about Titan Fall 2 is that it has a campaign mode. The campaign from what we have seen so far is pretty interesting. The game aims to hit players with the emotions. The campaign focuses a lot on the bond between Titan and Pilots. At the start of the game we saw our instructor fight hard to protect us and take down the enemies. His Titan was outnumbered and eventually got taken down. The hero didn’t survive but before he died he transfer control and ownership of the Titan to the player. It’s from there that things get serious. The action is hard and fast. What the campaign does well is that finding and getting different weapons is easy. There are guns on the floor, guns from enemies you killed, guns in weapon boxes etc. So getting ammo and weapons is never the problem.
The difficulty is fair. Even if you play in the second hardest mode, you will feel that everything is how it should be. Enemies don’t instant kill you but they will certainly kill you quick but giving chances. The campaign quite quickly introduces players to new weapons, features and skills level by level and scene by scene. The graphics are off course very good. It would be right to say excellent. Now in terms of characters players will have to face some significant people who pose a serious threat. Their personalities are so different and they stand out. They will take you on in a battle of titans. So prepare to face Titans both old but mostly new. These boss battles are excellent. It feels like a real battle. The most epic and OP thing so far is the ability to travel between time at will. Rewind to the past when everything was fresh and new or go back to the flaming and destroyed state that it’s currently in. Do this to avoid laser walls, flaming pits, automated turrets, troops and more. It’s awesome, endless assassination kills. The campaign so far is been great fun.
The multiplayer is still where it’s at right now. There are more maps and honestly two of them X35 Earthwalker himself completely hates which is only natural not every player is going to like everything. Most of the levels are very diverse from each other and straight up cool, providing many places and opportunities to use your pilot skills to the max. Take note that some levels are more parkour heavy than others. The range of weapons and abilities that players can select from is big and unlike some others there is a reason to use some over others. but this system isn’t perfect either. For starters the best kind of weapons to use in this game is hands down the rifles. The assault rifles are perfect for any situation. They are quick, deal damage fast, bullets to get at least a double kill and with the right attachments can even kill pilots at long range. Snipers are the worst. Titan Fall 2 is all about speed. Pilots run fast, move along walls, grapple to high locations, speed boost around and slid. They basically never stop moving and incredibly fast, how are you suppose to land a sniper shot. The snipers aren’t even instant hit like the ones in Halo. This means that the bullets must travel so you have to aim ahead but how do you aim ahead of pilot that jumps on that wall, then that wall then randomly slides then jumps for no reason then grapples then gets killed buy your team mate because you took too long. No the answer is not “git good scrub”.
Choose between rifles, pistols, sub machine guns, light machine guns, snipers and grenadier. Keep track of your progress with each weapon and unlock attachment and perks for them like faster weapon swap, more ammo, different scopes etc. The abilities are bigger and better. Go invisible for a short period of time, set up a holographic wall that increase the damage of your weapons when you fire through it, use a grapple hook to reach high, far and difficult places, use stem to run and move nearly twice as fast with healing, phase from place to place, use sonar knives to expose enemies, trick foes with holograms it’s all up to players. All are accessible from the start. Many load outs too so switching between them is easy during matches. Grenades, arc grenades that stun and blind, shrikes of fire or gravity, satchel packs for traps and more. There is so much to choose from. It’s going to be difficult to find another pilot with the east same load out as you in a match. Customisation has increased also, now you can decide the colour, patterns and looks of your character, weapons, patches and banners. What’s bad though is that each pilot ability is attached to a certain character model. For example the stim ability makes you use a skinny robot that doesn’t look cool. Honestly we wanted a normal human pilot but nope. Stuck with a weird skinny robot.
The best and most significant part of Titan Fall 2 are the Titans themselves. What else could it be? There are seven different Titans for players to drop in. Ion, Scorch, Northstar, Ronin, Tone, Legion and Monarch. Each one has a different weapon, different abilities and different strengths. Ion is your basic all rounded Titan. A laser to snipe Pilots and trip wires to keep Titans at bay. Scorch is heavy defence and damage but so slow, he sets the ground on fire and send wall of flames your way (sort of). Northstar snipes and keep its’s distance, capable of flying in the air and bombing from above. Ronin is light armour but wields a sword, dashing around the field and giving over Titans a nice hair cut. Tone hates privacy because it reveals all enemy locations thanks to it’s sonar knives making landing those heavy shots so easy. Legion wields a chain gun that shreads targets and like black beard from rainbow six siege can have a gun shield to protect it s self from damage. Monarch relies on it’s levelling up on the field and gaining new abilities each time..if it survives that long.
Off course you have to pick the Titan that works best with you. Some titans are less effective on certain levels. Big open spaces is where the Scorcher has a hard time since it’s main attack is a arc travelling single shot and others can shoot it from across the map. Monarch needs to get kills while staying alive. The upgrades turn the Monarch from the weakest titan to the strongest. North star needs more open space for it’s sniping but if some titans try to get close aim for buildings and cover and play ring around the rosey then use your hover ability to get in the air and land shots and rockets from above. Legion Just needs to see it’s target. That’s it. Legion is powerful enough fight others straight up but has limited options. Know when to use the close range and long range mode. There no real trick to Ion, just works like your regular titan but when you get the core ability you can laser eye others while looking so awesome. Tone is all about the long and mid range fight and using the sonar to expose pilots is far more useful so just pick them off when you find them. We must say though that there is nothing more satisfying than getting a level three Monarch. Also setting the ground on fire to do great damage and then finish them off with the core ability.
Titan Fall 2 is awesome. The matches are all fast pace. Literally, we never have to wait long for another match. The assault rifles feel very good. Movement and combat speed is fast and smooth. The a.i units are very responsive, have more animations and actions. The stalkers and reapers are actually a threat and shouldn’t be ignored. We do however feel that the ronin should have slightly less health because even if you are at close range wth the sword and swinging, the Ronin shouldn’t still be able to beat Titans that have be classed as high health and armour. It does take a bit too long to unlock more weapons and abilities. The XO-16 gun that the Monarch has should have less spread on the weapon when firing. The Northstar’s plasma railgun should have more damage. When you let it fully charge it doesn’t feel that much stronger. There should have been in game taunts for pilots to use to mock enemy players after killing them. Getting into your enemies heads.
Overall Titan Fall 2 is still an awesome game to play even now. There are a lot of players still going hard at the game. Lots of things to unlock and try out. Even though some weapons are better than others, you should still try them all. The mini missile launcher is next on our list. Try all the Titans and just have fun. Get those executions when you can because they feel good (when you are the one doing it). The scoring system for attrition doesn’t make that much sense right now. So give it a try and have fun. Titan Fall 2 may be an improvement over the last one but it still doesn’t match up to… the ‘Earth Walk!’
Light Fall is a new 2D platform game developed by “Bishop Games“. It’s coming out in March on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC. This game has got a number of fans excited and looking forward to it. Let’s take a look.
Light Fall takes place in the forgotten world of Numbra. Off course like any other game the land is in trouble. Imminent danger. Players control a small little black flame looking dude which has the shadow core. The shadow core is key for success and survival for there are many challenges and enemies along the way. We definitely hope the enemies are actually interesting and pose a real threat to the players.
It says on Steamthat, “Control the shadow core and use it the way you see fit”. Now this can’t be true. Games like this normally have obstacles that require a certain way to get past them. This means at most there could be two ways of doing this. You can smash through certain things. Use the core as a platform meaning it’s quite limited, so we will have to see how much freedom we are actually given.
What’s interesting in Light Fall is that the dark prevails over the light. Probably one of the biggest mechanic of the game is the side kick. The side kick is ‘Stryx’ who is described as a old and grumpy owl. This owl will either give you useful advice to help you or will mock you when you fail. Stryx is also Light Fall’s narrator. So players may not like this owl but we are sure it has a lot to say so make sure to listen to it.
Light Fall does offer a lot for gamers to do. It’s suppose to be a large world. There are many locations to explore like the Vipera’s Forest, Lunar Plain, the unknown Depths and even the Marshlands of Sorrows. There are alternate paths and short cuts sort of like Super Mario Bros 3. Also for the completionists out there are hidden Easter eggs and off course collectibles. At this point, games like this need this kind of stuff. So it’s more than just a simple platformer.
We checked out some gameplay and from what we have seen it looks cool. There is a free mode where you get complete control of the shadow core but then your character stays still. The movement seems quite quick, the wall bouncing is nice. Also when and where you jump of objects or hills effect how far you go, so things like getting a running start does change things. You can use the core to smash things, block lasers, push buttons etc. There are what seems like bosses to beat in the future like Orlog, Shen and Firas. The difficulty seems very low, especially since you can create a platform at will multiple times to cross large gaps. We hope it gets real difficult.
Overall Light Fall seems like a cool game. Graphics are excellent, animations are great here. Definitely made very well and has the setting and concept to definitely stand out but we haven’t seen anything that makes us at X35 Earthwalker want to play it. This game is similar to Outland but Outlamd set the bar far too high. Games like Light Fall do not reach that bar. So we would rather just play Outland again. Light Fall needs to answer why we should bother with this game. We will have to see.
The developers ‘Bishop Games’ did a good job with this game but we have written about other games similar and this one doesn’t stand out more than the others. We at X35 Earthwalker need to see more of what Light Fall has to offer. Now the Light there may be falling but there is one thing that can’t fall and that’s… the ‘Earth Walk!’
