X35 Earthwalker Ever Forward Game

Ever Forward is a adventure puzzle game developed and published by ‘Pathea‘. Ever Forward is said to be coming out the 29th of June 2021 on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and PS4. Ever Forward is already out on PC though. We saw this game and decided to check it out. Let’s take a look.

Ever Forward is all about Maya. Maya is a young girl who somehow is lost in a most unusual world. This world has been described as being “between reality and imagination.” She is off course all alone and must do this adventure by herself. Her mother did warn her not to go outside but hey that’s kids for ya. This journey is about discovery and as you progress, Maya will face her despair, face her fears and unlock memories. This will also unlock the secrets of this world. So get to it.

X35 Earthwalker Ever Forward Game

It is the story of Maya. Maya is lost in a strange world somewhere between reality and imagination. She is alone to confront her despair on her journey of discovery, where she must unlock her memories and confront her fears to unravel the secrets of the world. Players will need to use their observational skills and intelligence to solve multiple puzzles to piece together the mystery of Maya’s past and what dark secrets she has buried.

We automatically like games that has creativity. The whole world in Ever Forward is creative for the most part. Now this isn’t just a simple walk around and look game. There’s some mechanics. There’\s jumping and teleportation. There’s controlling of gravity. There’s also sneaking around. Stealth to put it simply. There is at some points what looks like a spotlight or vision displayed like a spotlight that looks in certain directions. You cannot let it see you. So it’s more than just a simple game.

X35 Earthwalker Ever Forward Game

We checked out some Ever Forward gameplay and it’s what we expected it to be. There’s lots to look at. The world is interesting and specifically designed. We like the colours, the trees, the sea etc. The puzzles have variety but the world design and visuals are easily the best thing so far about this game. Since it’s about a young girl called Maya who has a bit of a dark past and family is involved you know the developers are going for feelings and emotions too. So expect the story to get deep to some extent. Looks good though.

Overall Ever Forward looks very good. It does remind us of Manifold Garden in terms of the unique weird world with selected colours. The puzzles here aren’t serious level hard or anything but you do need to use your head and keep an eye out for what’s in the area and what’s going on. We liking the creativity in Ever Forward right now. Didn’t care about the PC version at all but now that it’s coming to consoles things will get better. The developers ‘Pathea’ have done a good job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to see what happens with this game. Now Ever Forward might be between reality and imagination but it’s all fiction compared to the reality of… the ‘Earth Walk!’

X35 Earthwalker Song of Iron

Song of Iron is a new action adventure game developed and published by ‘Escape’. Song of Iron is an Xbox exclusive said to be coming out in the third quarter of 2021 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. Song of Iron got our attention and is looking real serious. Make sure your beard is on point (sorry ladies). Let’s take a look.

Song of Iron is about this lone warrior. A viking who has seen battles and wars is on a journey. Behind him lies destroyed shields, numerous dead bodies and remains, crushed helms and more. This journey is for revenge and also to save your people. It’s a death wish. This man has nothing to lose. The destination is the temple of the great gods. Off course this won’t be easy. It’s a “dark nordic world.” Expect heavy resistance of all types.

This ain’t a simple journey in Song of Iron. You will climb mountains, venture into caves and off course there’s a forest to explore. You are wielding the axe of a fallen enemy. Monster, man and even nature are your enemies. There’s more than just your axe. There’s your shield and even a bow with lethal arrows. There’s also a cool mechanic concerning the weapons. You can run out of arrows, your shield can get broken and you can even lose your weapons. So players have to do some resource management and decide what to do wisely.

The graphics are fantastic for the most part. The walls, the background, the trees. the stones are fantastic. The enemies facial design looks bad from what we have sen though. The animations for the main character is excellent and look smooth. The lighting is fantastic as well. The torches light up the area real nice with clear a radius and how it casts lights on objects is so good. This game visuals looks fantastic and it’s clear loads of work went into this game. The electric effect on the axe lights up and again looks very good. It’s a cool light up effect in dark places like caves.

Song of Iron is clearly another awesome Xbox exclusive on the way. Song of Iron is serious for sure. We hope they improve the enemies though as they seem to simply designed and not threatening enough. Hopefully there are some serious league monsters and foes. We hope the combat in Song of Iron has some depth to it. We know your can throw your axe, swap quick to your bow and even like Thor, call your axe back to your hand. This game needs to be deep. Please work on your enemies design, faces and combat.

We checked out some Song of Iron gameplay and it’s more than what we expected. Song of Iron is impressive. It looks very good for sure. We like the interaction animations whether it’s dragging a large object or off course opening a chest. The glow and lighting of the contents on your characters face is real cool too. This game actually makes us want to play it. The lighting is in league with the damaging lighting found in Morkredd which is another Xbox exclusive. The lighting is just that good.

Overall, Song of Iron looks like an excellent game. The character can even drop kick an enemy. Think about it, does Marcus Fenix or Master Chief drop kick enemies? No! There’s a dragon flying in the background, there’s snowy mountains and even stealth elements. You have to decide whether to fight a certain enemy or sneak past. Or a certain fight might attract unwanted attention. The developers ‘Escape’ have done a fantastic job so far but there’s still work to be done. We at X35 Earthwalker are keep our eyes on Song of Iron. Now Song of Iron might have a serious brutal battle journey but it’s nothing compared to the adventures of… the ‘Earth Walk’

Eldest Souls is a new action boss rush game developed by ‘Fallen Flag Studios‘ and published by ‘united label‘ and ‘CI Games‘. Eldest Souls is said to be coming out in the second year of 2021 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and PC. Eldest souls name is enough to get some gamers attention for obvious reasons. Let’s take a look.

The story in Eldest Souls is very simple but makes no sense. There’s some major league beings known as the ‘old gods’. They are imprisoned… somehow. So humanity has been prospering a lot. Even great kingdoms have arisen. The old gods “in their final act of vengeance” released a “great desolation upon the world”. Now how did they do that? Didn’t they get imprisoned? Or right before getting sealed they uttered this curse or whatever. So this curse destroyed farms, rivers became dust. A real problem.

Now humanity retaliates with a great crusade. So it’s a big battle to kill all the gods once and for all. Now off course it failed miserably and the kingdoms are in a bad state. So how are a bunch of humans going to kill gods. What’s with fictional worlds and their crappy gods. Listen Eldest Souls, they should be called powerful being or super human etc but not gods. Now after the failed crusade, a lone crusader approaches the citadel. This sole fighter goes in to fight the gods. That’s you. We have many problems with this but her, that’s what video games and fictional for. It’s for the unrealistic, impossible creative imagine stuff. So yeah, go in there and beat up the gods.

Now this is what’s it’s all about. It’s just fast paced brutal gameplay. Hard to win but easy to die. Some describe it as “soul-like” combat. So basically everything you do matters and things can go real real bad in a moment. So no. You can’t take your hand of the controller to scratch your butt for a moment (go wash your hands you nasty). Eldest Souls is a boss rush game. So expect big battle after big battle after big battle. It’s what Eldest Souls is all about. So expect a huge werewolf boss who holds a shield and weapon. Expect a big armour clad knight like enemy with a huge blade. Expect a champion gundyr coming in hot with the giant swings and pressure.

What’s really cool though is that if you beaten lodged, you get something from them. You get an ability or a power from them. So the more you win and the more you conquer, the more powerful you become. So time your dodges, time your strikes, know when to use your abilities and powers. We wanted to know more about these powers though. We do know there’s quite a deep customisation concerning the stats and abilities for the player. You can mix and match to work with many different styles.

We checked out some Eldest Souls gameplay and it’s mostly what we thought. Eldest Souls has quests, the citadel is explorable, there’s a mystery at the center of this game concerning the imprisonment of the gods and what’s going on. There’s non playable characters that have something to say and contribute. The 16 bit graphics pixel style works well with this style of gameplay especially with the player view of the game. This game hasn’t excited us yet. We need to see more.

Overall Eldest Souls looks like a pixel Sekiro, dark souls game but with more emphasis on abilities, combinations and working with what the bosses give you upon victory. It definitely looks like a good game. This is definitely going to get some players attention. The developers ‘Fallen Flag Studios’ have done a good job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to just wait and see what happens with Eldest Souls. Now Eldest Souls may have old gods but those old so called gods are trash compared to… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Foreclosed is a new action shooter game developed by ‘Antab Studio‘ and published by ‘Merge Games‘. Foreclosed is said to he coming out in the second quarter in 2021 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and PC. Forclosed definitely looks different from your average game. Let’s take a look.

Foreclosed is all about Evan Kapnos. His identify has been recently foreclosed (get it?). His job was taken from him. His brain implants gone too which is bad in this technological advanced place. His access to the city block chain is gone too. The plan of action right now is to “escape before his identity and implants are auctioned off.” This isn’t too clear though. Is he trying to get his implants and identity back or is he trying to escape before someone else gets it? Just saying, things need to be clearer.

Now the biggest thing about Foreclosed is it’s style. It’s a shooter but with a comic book style. There’s slices and pages in the style of a comic book. It does look cool for sure. Here’s how they described it “Everything from game-play to cinematics are experienced within the stylistic framework of a graphic novel. Full screen and comic panel perspectives are seamlessly blended as you move throughout FORECLOSED’s Cyberpunk city.” The whole comic design things is cool.

We checked out some Foreclosed gameplay and it’s what we thought it would be for the most part. Foreclosed’s only real strength right now is the comic style. We keep saying that. We like that the cutscenes are interactive. Players don’t just watch but do. The cutscenes also transition smoothly between alternative game-play styles. So there’s some stuff going on here for sure. Run, move around, shoot, survive, sneak and do what you got to do.

Overall Foreclosed doesn’t look good to us. It’s doing something very different which we like. The comic style is good. It’s too simple though. The gun fight didn’t look on point, more off. If you just want a shooter with a different experience then Foreclosed does that. We want to see more and know more concerning the story and what’s going on. The developers have nice ideas but got to deliver it good. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to hear if something changes concerning this game. Now Foreclosed may have a cool comic style but what breaks the pages is… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Scarlet Nexus is a new action role playing game developed and published by ‘Bandai Namco‘. Scarlet Nexus is said to be coming out 25th of June 2021on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. Scarlet Nexus sounds interesting and looks fictional fictional alright. Let’s take a look.

Scarlet Nexus is a strange game for sure. Scarlet Nexus is set in the distant future. It’s so futuristic that something called a psionic hormone, was discovered in the human brain. This gives people extra sensory powers. Now off course something like that will change the whole world. People having powers and stuff. Most people can’t be trusted with powers for starters but whatever. Soon after all these evil mutants come down from the sky. They are referred too as ‘Others’ and have a serious craving for human brains. We can already see where this is going.

We betted that even though people have psionic powers now that only the best and strongest stand a chance of combatting and beating these mutants. We were right! Not shocking at all. When are we EVER wrong? Here’s what the official Scarlet Nexus website said “Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our only chance to fight the onslaught from above.” So off course the government has been scouting and recruiting good psionics to an organisation called ‘Other Suppression Force’ or OSF. They are humanity’s last hope and chance. First of all that’s a crappy name. Other suppression force sucks and they can do better. Second they better be recruiting everyone with psionic abilities as no ability is truly useless. Don’t just get the best.

Scarlet Nexus has a dual story system going on. You can choose to either be Yuito Sumeragi who is described as “A bright and positive-minded young recruit with a kind heart.” We already like him. Yuito Sumeragi has psychokinesis which is a very powerful ability for sure. He is the second son of the Sumeragi family which is a powerful and wealthy family. His father is currently leading the government while his brother is “serving in command at the OSF”. What a family right? The other character is Kasane Randall. She is the typical mysterious super talented hardened girl who has a soft side that only those she trusts get to see. her abilities are no joke though. She also has psychokinesis and is an elite soldier. She’s described as elite soldier but that doesn’t mean she’s part of the Septentrions. Those are the two main characters but there are many other significant characters you will encounter.

It’s best to play both stories as the stories of both Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane Randall will connect and only then will the full story be revealed in Scarlet nexus. By the way, the people responsible for the story of Scarlet Nexus are the same guys who did ‘Tales of Vesperia’. So you pretty much get what’s going on here by now. It’s simple really. Far distant future, play special characters with great powers, slice and attack dangerous big enemies, and find out what’s going on. The real story. Oh and here’s a bit about psychokinesis. You can move and lift objects but there’s also psychic type abilities too like infusing yourself with your powers to enhance attacks and abilities and in some sources of fiction even create blasts and projectiles. Scarlet Nexus seems to be taking a different turn though.

We checked out some Scarlet Nexus gameplay and it’s what we expected. You can fight with your melee attacks using your sword while also using your psychokinesis to to throw big objects and slam enemies with stuff like even a car. The Others, those mutants, look so strange and lame. That doesn’t mean they weren’t designed well. Some characters are designed to look boring while others are designed to look cool. These things look lame. If we were in the Scarlet Nexus world, we wouldn’t take them seriously at all. The character designs are nice, not awesome though, but we recognise the style for sure. An good and easy style to work with. The city though looks very good. Basically futuristic Japan.

Overall Scarlet Nexus looks like it’s going to be a very good game. We aren’t impressed with anything but most things don’t so that’s not a big deal here. We wanted more information concerning the combat and how psychokinesis functions in this game as it’s different across fiction. We do like the action though. The developers ‘Bandai Namco’ have done a good job with this game so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to keep and ear open for Nexus Scarlet. Now Nexus Scarlet may have psychokinetic powers but those we have seen here are a complete joke and ineffective against… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is a new third person role playing action game developed by ‘Tuque Games‘ and published by ‘Wizards of the Coast‘. Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is said to be coming out the 22nd of June 2021 on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. Dungeons & Dragons is popular. Let’s take a look.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is off course all about the dungeons and dragons world. It’s here this time as an action rpg. There’s real time combat too. The story isn’t complicated but more typical. Dangerous monsters and creatures causing havoc and destruction. For example there’s invading armies that are evil who are also getting more powerful over time. Frost giants and we know how bad they can get, along with dragons who want revenge are moving around through Iceland Dale. Off course dragons. It’s called dungeons and dragons after all. Can you image a dungeon without any dragons?… boring.

So yeah all players have to do is face off against the forces of darknesses and defeat dangerous powerful creatures that were on the offensive. It’s Dungeon and Dragons but improved and a huge world adventure. There’s four heroes, so pick who you want to be and get out there. That’s simple.

There is co-op as well which is awesome clearly something Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance needs.  It’s four player maximum. So imagine exploring a cold Icewind Dale, facing frost giants, slaying them and getting the loot which include gear. There’s also other fantastic mighty bosses too. Don’t forget about the dragons.

We checked out some Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance gameplay and it’s what we expected. Take on monsters, legendary beasts, swing your weapons, fire your bows, cast your magic and work together to be victorious and bring home the prize. Exploration matters and the combat looks lively and cool. Combat in some games aren’t done well. We need to see more from Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance but so far from what we see, it looks good but standard.

Overall Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is a big role playing game. You get to fight all the famous mythological creatures like frost giants and trolls with your friends, get powerful loot, get stronger and roll together. It’s just straight up dungeons and dragons fun. The graphics look good and the visuals sound alright for now but there’s still more time to go. So we need and want to see more. Ir’s cool but doesn’t stand out. The developers ‘Tuque Games’ have done a nice job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to hear out for Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. Now Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance may have frost giants and revenge seeking dragons but even those just get slapped aside by… the ‘Earth Walk!’

X35 Earthwalker MechWarriors 5: Mercenaries

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a new action simulation game developed and published by ‘Piranha Games‘. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is said to be coming out May 27th 2021 on the Xbox Series X and Xbox One. It’s already out on PC though. So this does count as an xbox exclusive (or xbox console exclusive). Giant mechs with serious firepower sounds good to us. Let’s take a look.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is all about the giant mechs for sure. Here’s the story. It’s the year 3015. Thousands of star systems have been colonised. This system is what’s called the ‘Inner Sphere’. This vast space. You are a mercenary. You inherited a mercenary company which use to be something special and big. It nearly got destroyed by other factions. You out here looking for revenge and glory. So travel across the stars and blow up some stuff.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries has lots of mechanical combat and destruction. So you can expect ground vehicles tanks and off course other mechs.  There are aircrafts so make sure your aim is good. There’s bases with advanced defenses. There’s a number of things to fight and all will guarantee some explosions and big battles. Remember that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is also described as a strategy game. So don’t try to just run out there guns blazing thinking you’ll be okay. You won’t. Unless you play on the baby difficulties.

There’s a campaign yes but there’s more to MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. There’s an instant action system where you can customise and start your own battles. Like how you can set up matches in Supreme Commander 2 to just play for fun. There’s also 4 player co-op too so you can bring others into the battle to maximise the destruction. Games that have co-op automatically gain more approval points from us. Games to play with others is such a great feature.

We checked out some MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries gameplay and it’s not what we expected. It’s more detailed than we thought. We like the information on the heads up display. We like how the visor shakes and moves a bit as you stomp around. You can equip and be prepared for close to even long range combat. We wonder how many types of mess there are for players to control and if there’s any modifications and adjustments to movement speed and mobility. We have numerous questions concerning the mechs though. From what we have seen though, things do look very cool.

Overall MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries looks like a very good game. Have very little detail on the campaign though. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries coming to the Xbox was a smart move as now we hear about it. The graphics look very good. The details on the mech parts and customisation is very good for sure. The developers ‘Piranha Games’ have done a good job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to see what this game truly has to offer. This is now the second mech xbox exclusive game on the way. Exciting times. Now MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries have futuristic heavy weapon mechs but even those can be blasted away by… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Aliens: Fireteam is a new cooperative third-person survival shooter game developed and published by ‘Cold Iron Studios‘. Aliens: Fireteam is said to be coming out in the third quarter of 2021 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. The aliens are back and this time, it’s serious. Let’s take a look.

Aliens: Fireteam has a very simple story. A fire team of marines, hardened marines jump in, head first into a major league xenomorph threat. Why? Well a “mysterious distress call” went out and off course we just got to respond right. The marine assault unit make their way to LV-895 which is in the outer colonies. It wouldn’t be an shooter alien game if this place didn’t have xenomorphs and some sort of ancient alien civilisation links. Also it wouldn’t be aliens if there wasn’t any hidden corporate secrets going on. So yeah, Aliens: Fireteam has the typical package.

So let’s give it to you straight. Aliens: Fireteam is a cooperative third person shooter game. You get to create your own fire team and customise them. You can decide their class, perks, weapons (off course) and gear. Then dive straight into the action and start shooting. Expect loads of danger and enemies. There’s 30+ weapons from what we have heard. About times the marines get new weapons. Got to adapt and improve. There’s also 70+ weapon attachments/mods. Let’s get into a bit more details.

There are five unique classes: Doc (Doctor), Gunner, Technician, Recon and Demolisher. We can figure out what each class does. Doc would be focused on healing and health. Gunner is the big gun and should do the most direct damage. Technician has the technology to grant advantages, basically the support class. Recon should be the one to bring awareness, expose enemies, navigate, lead the charge sort off. Demolisher just blows stuff up and maybe destroy fake walls for secrets etc. Each class has their own character perks and special abilities. Aliens: Fireteam has variety.

There are four different campaigns in Aliens: Fireteam that are said to introduce new storylines to the alien universe. We are expecting a variety in the level designs because of the different campaigns. Some locations are clearly xenomorph hives or heavily taken over areas. So the developers need to capitalise on this. There’s also a challenge card system to make your playthroughs different and add deployability to the game. The card challenge seems to be where you can accept added difficulties, twists to shake things up.

The enemies you face are interesting for the most part in Alien: Fireteam. There are two groups: Xenomorphs and “Weyland-Yutani synthetic foes”. Not only that but we hear there are over 20 enemy types. This is exciting. We expected more enemies and variety of xenomorphs and they have done that. There’s 11 different types of xenomorphs which includes facehuggers and praetorians. So expect even new xenomorphs. Those synthetic enemies can harm you up close while some wield weapons as in guns. They take cover and fire at you.

We checked out some Aliens: Fireteam gameplay and it’s what we expected. We are glad they are doing it this way. It’s a serious fire fight out here. The aliens, each type have their own intelligence concerning how they attack and function. For example some types are all about ambushing you. Some try to outsmart you. Maybe while the main xenomorphs rush you, the smarter different type might try to go around. We know that players must watch out for vents, doors and off course keep an eye on the ceilings and walls too as threats can come from every angle possible. This means players need to work together and use cover well and hold good positions to prevent getting caught off guard.

Overall Aliens: Firebase looks like an awesome game. We are saying this with confidence. We like that you can play with both human players or A.I teammates. Not every has friends available or friends online at all. Aliens: Firebase plans to bring intense action. Facing literal hordes of enemies in some cases and feeling overwhelmed. We hope there is a high difficulty for this game. It needs to be difficult. Also the game looks very good. The graphics and visuals are very good. The level designs from what we have seen look very good too. Facilities and hive like areas. The developers ‘Cold Iron Studios’ have done an excellent job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker look forward to seeing this game. This is an aliens game we are excited to see. We hope the devs do well with it. Now Aliens: Fireteam may have what fans have been waiting for but it’s still not as good as it would be if it was made by… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Disciples: Liberation is a fantasy strategy role playing game developed by ‘Frima Studio‘ and published by ‘Kalypso‘. Disciples: Liberation is said to be coming out in the fourth quarter of 2021 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. Strategy role playing games is one of our things so we had to check this out. Let’s take a look.

Disciples: Liberation has one of the typical role playing game stories. Start of as nothing really, in a large world and you have to create your own story and path. There are some faction in the Disciples: Liberation world. You have the human empire who for some reason always has to have religious extremism. Like seriously why can’t the human leaders be actual nice guys. Always a corrupt religion thing of some sort. Get’s annoying. To developers everywhere… get creative. There’s the undead faction which has a “mad queen”. They are a dark lot for sure. Expect other typical factions too.

There’s a whole system here. There’s political matters which you will have to get involved in and impact. You will need resources for a number of obvious things so design a team for that matter. Now off course the main event, facing dangerous monsters, creatures and organised groups. What we are most interested in is how the turn based combat is handled here in Disciples: Liberation. There isn’t that much information at all yet it’s the most important thing. So there’s no real way to rate or figure this game out by much.

Here’s some quick information. There are 4 skill classes, hidden treasures, meaning secrets are around, over 270 quests, 2 player online skirmishes, 5 different endings, off course magic is in this game, single player campaign has been said to have over 80 hours worth of gameplay. Lastly there are dangerous bosses. Again, most much information though.

We checked out some gameplay… actually no, we didn’t. There isn’t really anything to look at. What Disciples: Liberation is also going for is the whole your decisions have consequences. Many games try that but we can’t think of one where it truly matters to us. None hasn’t done a great job of that of the games we have played.

Overall. Disciples: Liberation so far just seems like another role playing fantasy game with a dark setting to it. We will have to keep an ear open for Disciple: Liberation to see what else comes up. The developers have a lot of work to do. This game can be very good but they have to get it right. We don’t believe they will though sadly. Now Disciples: Liberation might have recruits but those recruits aren’t good enough for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Exophobia is a new First person shooter game developed by ‘Zarc Attack‘ and published by ‘PM Studios‘. Exophobia is said to be coming out the 5th of October 2021 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and PC. Exophobia definitely has a retro inspired style. Let’s take a look.

The story in Exophobia is that you are a soldier of some sort and you wake up on a spaceship. Alone. Well you aren’t truly alone as on the spaceship has loads of alien soldiers. These alien soldiers are very hostile and will try to kill you. So off course you need to fight for your life. This means grab weapons, dodge incoming fire and shoot up some aliens. So yeah It’s a straight up classic first person shooter game. Run around and shoot.

Now just take a look at Exophobia. Check the trailer we placed at the bottom of this G-blog and straight away it’s style should remind you of a certain famous historical game. 5,4,3,2,1, times up. Ultimate DOOM. Off course. We see Ultimate DOOM here and that’s a good thing as majority would agree that it’s a very good game for sure. If Exophobia is anything like Doom then that alone is a selling point. Now off course Exophboia is their own game with their own settings, story, enemies and mechanics.

About the mechanics. We know that there are weapon upgrades. Something off course Ultimate DOOM didn’t have. These weapon upgrades have been described to “mix up your combat style” and even “uncover new areas”. This reminds us of progression in Metroid as in you can’t get up this ledge until you get double jump or the grapple beam. For Exophobia, we have seen what looks like explosive shots and even strong kinetic energy or force shots to destroy structures and create paths. We even saw grappling taking place too, so there’s clearly extra mobility and mechanics going on here. After all Exophobia needs to stand out.

We checked out some Exophobia gameplay and it’s what we thought it would be. You can run, dash and even stun your enemies. Sprint is off course needed for some actions. The dash can be used for evading and some dangerous enemies require stuns to make beating them easier or maybe stun the dangerous enemy so you can handle the weaker ones. Exophobia with these mechanics and features allow for more tactics and strategies. It’s not just run around and shoot. There’s some thinking required for some encounters with the enemies. This is a good thing. It’s good to have to use your head in games. So there’s should be more going on than Ultimate DOOM. Now whether there are going to be secret areas and fake walls, we don’t know.

Overall Exophobia looks like a good game. The main problem we have is that the enemies aren’t as exciting as the ones in Ultimate Doom. It’s got more going on but doesn’t look as fun. The enemies also look too similar. They should add more enemies of variety. We did see worm creatures and machines but we are talking about the main enemies. Most common. The graphics and visuals are nice though for it’s style. The developers ‘Zarc Attack’ have done a good job with Exophobia so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to keep an ear open for this one. Now Exophobia may have hostile alien soldiers but even those aliens are too scared to mess with… the ‘Earth Walk!’
